Your Donation Makes a Difference

Your donations ensure that our weekly reporting can continue. Your financial support helps us fulfill our mission of providing local news and information to Southern Kenai Peninsula communities, from Ninilchik to Nanwalek. Because we like to publicly recognize our supporters, our donations platform will ask for your permission to share your name, which is optional.

Donations more than $5,000 will be reported, as required by law, in our annual audit and tax filings.

Our Nonprofit Status

Homer Independent Press is operated by NZP4H, a nonprofit corporation registered in Alaska and a federally recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

Your donation may qualify as a federal tax deduction. Our EIN is 39-5059578.

Transparency Matters

NZP4H dba Homer Independent Press has earned a 2026 Silver Seal of Transparency from Candid, a leading source of information about nonprofit organizations.

We are also registered with Benevity, which helps employees and companies manage individual donations.

Political Neutrality

Homer Independent Press is a politically neutral organization. We do not accept donations from political parties on behalf of their election campaigns, political parties or political organizations. We therefore require that you certify that you are not making a donation on behalf of any political candidate, party or organization when giving through our online platform.

The Homer Independent Press Agency Stewardship Fund

The newly established Homer Independent Press Agency Stewardship Fund, held at the Homer

Foundation, is a non-endowed account that donors can use to make gifts to NZP4H (the nonprofit corporation doing business as the Homer Independent Press).

This fund provides donors another way to support independent local journalism. Along with regular cash donations welcome, it offers options for planned or legacy giving, gifts of appreciated stock or other assets, employer matching gifts and other charitable giving opportunities.

By holding the fund at the Foundation, HIP benefits from increased visibility, long-term stewardship and the added confidence some donors may feel knowing their gift is held and managed by an established community foundation.
