Homer Police
March 19
At 2:42 p.m., officers responded to a possible domestic disturbance. No crime was articulated.
At 7:03 p.m., officers assisted with a medical call.
At 1:56 a.m., a Homer man was issued a summons for driving while license suspended.
At 6:10 a.m., officers responded to a deat in the city limits. While the death was not unexpected, nothing suspicious was observed.
At 3:01 p.m., local resident reported his bicycle was stolen. Possible suspect indicated.
At 11:47 p.m., South Peninsula Hospital requested assistance with a disruptive patient. Patient was given a 24-hour notice of trespass from SPH property.
March 21
At 2:11 a.m., a Homer man was issued a summons for DWLS.
At 9:09 a.m., suspected drug activity was reported in the Main Street area of town.
At 9:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to Safeway where a disruptive individual was contacted and at the store’s request was given a one-year trespass.
At 9:57 p.m., officers were advised of an individual who was reported to have shined a flashlight into the eyes of the driver of a vehicle as it was passing by.
At 10 p.m., officers assisted with a medical call.
At 10:26 p.m., officers were advised of loud noise coming from a business on West Pioneer Avenue. This was the only report on the noise.
March 22
At 1:33 a.m., officers received a third hand report of an individual who had reported that he was going to harm himself. Officers contacted this person who denied needing any assistance or of self harm. Officers determined that other than being intoxicated, he was not a danger to himself or others.
At 4:13 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a driver in the city limits. This driver was ultimately cited for Failure to Register Vehicle and Improper Use of Plates.
At 12:00 p.m., A burglary was reported at a local business. Under investigation.
At 10:45 p.m., a Homer man was booked into the Homer City Jail for driving under the influence.
March 23
At 4:04 p.m., a theft of property was reported from the yard of a residence in town.
At 6:58 p.m., A fraud/theft of funds from a bank account was reported by a resident in town. They were provided with the appropriate federal contact information, in addition to filing their report with police.
March 24
At 10:20 a.m., a Ninilchik man turned himself in at the police station for a warrant that he had. He was booked into the jail without incident.
At 10:56 a.m., officers assisted two residents with a civil issue.
At 3:03 p.m., officers assisted a business owner in town with a parking issue on private property.
At 5:32 p.m., a Homer woman turned herself in at the police station for a warrant that she had. She was booked into the jail without incident.
At 7:19 p.m., officers were dispatched to a welfare check in town. No further action was required.
Alaska State Troopers
March 20
Alaska State Troopers in Anchor Point responded to a residence off Cape Ninilchik for a report of a disturbance. Subsequent investigation determined a 45-year-old woman had assaulted her boyfriend. The woman was located on March 21 and taken to the Homer Jail on two counts of fourth-degree assault..
Criminal cases disposed
March 16
Gregory Vernon Martin, 56, charges dismissed, violating conditions of release for misdemeanor. He pleaded guilty to second-degree harassment (offensive phys contact) and fifth-degree criminal mischief (damage under $250).
Mark Shane Mcconnell, 57, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.
March 18
Christopher Richard Smith, 33, charges dismissed, first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor (dui with child – Counts 2 and 3). He pleaded guilty to driving under the influence (bac .08+ percent).
Jason J Kellum, 52, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence (bac .08+ percent).
James Drew Weber, 28, pleaded guilty to driving while license cancelled, revoked or suspended for criminal offense.
