On March 20, the Kachemak Swim Club hosted its annual fundraiser, the Swim-a-Thon, at the Kate Kuhns Aquatic Center. Forty-seven swimmers jumped in and powered through an incredible 6,912 lengths, totaling an astonishing 97 miles.

Swimmers had up to two hours to complete a maximum 200 lengths or 5,000 yards. Jeremiah Overdorf finished first, completing 5,000 yards in 1 hour and 2 minutes. Every swimmer showed improvement from last year, either swimming their 200 lengths faster or completing more lengths. Three swimmers at least doubled their lengths from last year: Ellowyn Hanson, Xander Roth and Wilder Roth. First-year swimmers were also impressive, with everyone swimming at least one hour without stopping. The pool was splashing and buzzing with the determination
Congratulations to the following swimmers who competed all 200 lengths: Avery Briscoe, Lorelei Kinney, Jeremiah Overdorf, Elias Sundheim, Anika Sundheim, Hamish Bartlett, Benjamin Overdorf, Finn Brewer, Adela Handley-Camacho, Emma Field, Evelyn Field, Xander Roth and Tilly Bynagle.
Throughout the last six weeks these swimmers have been gathering donations and pledges per length in their community, and we want to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated. The Kachemak Swim Club is still accepting donations for another week. Every donation, small or large, is appreciated. Donate here.
