Louisiana shipbuilding Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors LLC submitted the solo bid of about $350 million to build a replacement for the 62-year-old MV Tustumena, according to the Alaska Beacon.

Nicknamed the “Trusty Tusty,” the ferry homeported in Homer is one of two oceangoing ferries in the Alaska Marine Highway system.
