Criminal dispositions

Jan. 7, John Austin Mixon, 26, charges dismissed on six counts of theft and one count of trespassing, and two counts criminal trespass, one count of theft – less than $250, three counts of burglary, one count of theft of a firearm/explosive, and one count of criminal trespass.

Jan. 12, Bruce Eric Nibert, 58, guilty conviction after guilty pleas for driving under the influence (two charges), driving with license canceled, revoked or suspended, and violating conditions of release for misdemeanor. A charge of weapons possession while intoxicated was dismissed.

Jan. 12, Joseph Edward Gargano, 57, guilty conviction after guilty plea for driving under the influence. A charge of refusal to submit to a chemical test was dismissed. 

Jan. 12, Elias Uriel Kvasnikoff, 37, guilty conviction after guilty plea for disorderly conduct creating a hazard condition. Four counts of assault when child present were dismissed. 

Jan. 12, Douglas Richard Harris, 52, charge dismissed, criminal mischief with damages under $250. 

Jan. 13, Marie Lynn Mcconnell, 55, guilty conviction after guilty plea for burglary, criminal mischief, fourth-degree assault, and violating conditions of release for a felony. 

Jan. 14, Anthony Michael Rizzo, 48, guilty conviction after guilty pleas for driving under the influence and driving with license canceled, revoked, or suspended for criminal offenses. 

Jan. 14, Joel Marmon, 62, guilty conviction after guilty plea for driving with license canceled, revoked, or suspended.

Jan. 14, Drake Nelson Piper, 36, guilty conviction after guilty plea for theft of less than $250. 

Alaska State Troopers 

On Jan. 19, at 6:30 a.m., Alaska State Troopers responded to a 911 call of a disturbance at a residence on Valleyside Avenue in Anchor Point. An investigation showed a 24-year-old female resident of Anchorage was intoxicated and had assaulted her boyfriend during an argument and damaged his vehicle. The suspect was arrested and remanded into the Homer Jail on charges of third-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, and third-degree criminal mischief . She was held pending arraignment.

On Jan. 20, at approximately 12:06 p.m. Alaska State Troopers received a report of a person driving a white SUV all over the roadway, crossing the center line and tailgating other vehicles. Troopers responded and contacted a white SUV near Mile 155 Sterling Highway. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of a 38-year-old Homer man on one count of felony driving under the influence, driving with a revoked license, resisting arrest, fourth-degree assault, five counts of third-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, and five counts of fifth-degree misconduct involving controlled substance. The driver was transported to the Homer Jail for remand.

At 4:19 p.m., officers conducted a wellness check. 

Jan. 14

At 1:44 p.m., officers responded to a report of suspicious circumstances. No crime had occurred. 

At 6:38 p.m., officers responded to a report of an individual threatening to harm themselves. No
crime occurred.

At 7:27 p.m., officers performed a welfare check.

At 7:40 p.m., officers performed a welfare check.

At 8:13 p.m., an officer took a  dog to the animal shelter.

At 8:32 p.m., officers performed a welfare check.

At 10:37 p.m., officers performed a welfare check. 

Jan. 17

At approximately 1:13 p.m., a caller reported threats.

At approximately 4:22 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance.

At approximately 5:20 p.m., a caller reported a vehicle parked in a private property and requested the vehicle be removed.

At approximately 5:25 p.m., a caller reported theft from their bank account.

At approximately 5:50 p.m., officers responded to a welfare check.
