Alaska State Troopers
On Jan. 23, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a suspicious vehicle off Basargin Road. The vehicle was located, and it was determined that no crime had been committed. Both occupants reported that someone had chased them out of the parking lot while discharging a firearm. The driver had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and was transported to the Homer Jail. A subsequent investigation led to charges against a Homer man, age 53, for third-degree assault. The man was issued a summons to appear in Homer court and released.
On Jan. 24, at approximately 7:15 p.m., Alaska State Troopers received a “report every dangerous driver immediately” report about a gray truck driving erratically on Chris Court. Troopers responded to the area, and an investigation resulted in a summons being issued to an Anchor Point man, age 69, for one count of driving under the influence and one count of driving while license suspended.
On Jan. 26, at 12:27 p.m., the Alaska State Fire Marshal’s Office received a report of an explosion and resulting fire that had occurred Saturday, Jan. 24, at about 3:30 p.m. in a single-family residence in the community of Port Graham. The incident resulted in the injury of an adult male who was medevacked to South Peninsula Hospital for further care. An investigation is ongoing.
On Jan. 27, at approximately 12:37 a.m., Alaska State Troopers in Anchor Point observed a vehicle drive into the parking lot and roll to a stop in front of the Trooper Post. The driver, age 36, was fast asleep in the driver’s seat. A subsequent investigation determined that the driver was operating the vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance. The driver was arrested and remanded at Homer Jail on one count of DUI.

Jan. 20
At 9:27 a.m., officers patrolled a building project site at the request of the owner.
At 11:16 a.m., officers responded to the report of a person trespassing on private property. The person was issued a trespass warning and left the property.
At 12:46 p.m., officers assisted the Alaska State Troopers.
At 2:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of suspicious circumstances. No crime had occurred.
At 3:53 p.m., officers responded to the location of a 911 hang-up. No problem or crime was observed.
At 7:32 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance. No crime had occurred.
Jan. 22
At approximately 1:38 a.m., officers responded to an automatic crash notification and located a vehicle that had struck a Homer Electric Association utility pole. The 39-year-old female driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
At approximately 7:11 a.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle collision with a moose.
At approximately 12:24 p.m., officers responded to a collision.
At approximately 2:23 p.m., a caller reported someone attempting to sell their property fraudulently.
At approximately 9:17 p.m., officers arrested a 35-year-old Homer man during a traffic stop for Driving Under the Influence.
At approximately 10:34 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance.
Jan. 23
At approximately 1:49 a.m., officers responded to a welfare check and found an elderly person on the floor unable to get up; officers assisted, and medics responded.
At approximately 9:58 a.m., officers responded to a welfare check.
At approximately 5:21 p.m., a caller reported finding a moose carcass, which was found to be from a roadkill.
Jan. 24
At approximately 12:06 a.m., officers assisted Alaska State Troopers.
At approximately 2:46 p.m., officers arrested a 42-year-old Homer man during a traffic stop for violating conditions of release.
At approximately 3:17 p.m., a caller reported harassment.
At approximately 8:19 p.m., officers responded to a REDDI complaint.
Jan. 25
At 12:40 a.m., officers responded to a report of suspicious circumstances. No crime had occurred.
At 4:35 a.m., officers responded to the report of a disturbance involving two people. The parties separated before the officers arrived. No crime had occurred.
At 5:45 a.m., officers assisted the U.S. Coast Guard with an active Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon (EPRIB) signal coming from the harbor. No vessels in distress were located.
At 1:48 p.m., officers served a summons for driving under the influence to a 24-year-old Homer man.
At 3:31 p.m., officers assisted a Homer resident with a civil problem.
Jan. 26
At 1:10 p.m., officers responded to a report of fraud. No crime had occurred.
At 1:49 p.m., officers responded to a report of theft. No crime had occurred.
