South Peninsula Hospital will partner with several local agencies to conduct an emergency preparedness drill on Friday, Aug. 28, according to a press release.  The drill will exercise the hospital and local EMS emergency response plan for decontamination.

The drill happens between 9:30 a.m and 1 p.m. Friday, starting at the Homer High School parking lot with a simulated car crash involving several vehicles and passengers resulting in the need for decontamination at the hospital’s Emergency Department and ambulance bay. Partners will include the Homer Fire Department, Homer Police and Kachemak Emergency Services. 

The drill will not interrupt any regular care or services, but individuals visiting the high school or the hospital main entrance and ED on Friday morning can expect to see drill-related activity, the press release said. 

“This should not cause any inconvenience, and responders thank you for your support as we work together to prepare for the unexpected,” said SPH Public Information Office Derotha Ferraro.
