Sept. 22

A 32-year-old Nanwalek woman called Alaska State Troopers at 2:34 a.m. Troopers said the woman was heavily intoxicated on alcohol and made various statements. Troopers responded later that morning to Nanwalek. Following an investigation, troopers said the woman shattered a glass window at her partner’s home. Troopers arrested her for fourth-degree criminal mischief and took her to the Homer Jail. While at the jail troopers said she tried to introduce contraband into the jail. She was charged with second-degree introducing contraband.

Sept. 26

Troopers at 3 p.m. stopped a driver in a vehicle near Mile 146 Sterling Highway for multiple equipment violations. Troopers identified the driver as a 42-year-old Anchor Point man and found he drove on a suspended license. They issued him a summons and released him.

Homer Police

Sept. 25

At 1:27 p.m., officers responded to the 2100 block of Paradise Place for an animal call. A property owner reported a defense of life or property (DLP) incident involving a bear destroying his livestock. Homer Police and Alaska Wildlife Troopers were advised, and AWT investigated the call.

At 11:44 p.m., officers responded to the 3800 block of Shelford Street for a noise ordinance call. The incident was documented and the caller was advised of their options.

Sept. 26

At 7:17 p.m., officers responded to the area of Sterling Highway and Pioneer Avenue for a motor vehicle collision call. A commercial truck rolled onto its side during a turn. The incident was documented, and the driver indicated his company would remove the spilled material.

At 7:17 p.m., officers responded to the 4700 block of Early Spring Street for a welfare check call.

Sept. 27

At 6:22 p.m., officers responded to the 90 block of Sterling Hwy for a Trespass call. The person in question was contacted and advised of a two-year trespass at the request of the property owner.

At 6:56 p.m., officers responded to the 4400 block of Towne Heights Lane for a civil issue call. The disagreement involved disputed property between two individuals. The incident was documented and both parties were advised of their options.

Sept. 28

At 11:42 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of W. Fairview Avenue for a harassment call. The harassment was occurring online and via social media. The incident was documented and the caller was advised of their options.

At 4:01 p.m., officers responded to the 4400 block of Towne Heights Lane for a service of court documents call. A resident was served with official court paperwork.

Sept. 29

At 9:29 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Sterling Highway for a traffic call. Both drivers alleged poor driving by the other, including an unappreciated hand gesture. Both parties were contacted by police and advised on how to handle similar situations in the future. No further action was required.

At 11:09 a.m., an officer contacted a 19-year-old Homer man on a Warrant call. He was booked into the Homer Jail on a Palmer AST remand warrant for driving under the influence.

At 4:24 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of W. Pioneer Avenue for a theft call. The reporting party reported a bright red bicycle stolen from the location.

At 4:45 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of W. Fairview Avenue for a traffic call. It was reported that a vehicle passed a school bus stop arm while it was offloading students. The incident was documented and follow-up will occur.

At 5:52 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Grubstake Avenue for a trespass call. The person in question was contacted and advised of their trespass from the residence at the request of the property owner.

At 7:47 p.m., officers responded to the 1700 block of Sterling Highway for a welfare check call. The party in question was contacted, found capable of caring for themselves and the reporting party was informed. No further action was required.
