Criminal dispositions

On Jan. 7, Rusty Waite, 47, was found guilty after a guilty plea of hunting outside of the season or exceeding the bag limit for moose in Unit 15.

Alaska State Troopers

On Jan. 8 at approximately 4:23 a.m., Anchor Point Alaska State Troopers received a report of a Domestic Violence Protective Order violation in the Anchor Point area. The complainant stated that a resident of Anchor Point, age 45, had violated a long-term protective order by sending a text message to the victim earlier that morning. Troopers contacted the individual who sent the text on Jan. 10 in the Valleyside Avenue area just north of Anchor Point.  Subsequent investigation revealed he had violated the order by sending a text message to the petitioner. The individual was issued a misdemeanor citation for violating a Domestic Violence Protective Order with a mandatory court date set for later.

On Jan. 11, at approximately 3:20 p.m., Anchor Point Alaska State Troopers took the report of a disturbance in the Valleyside Avenue area just north of Anchor Point. Troopers responded and subsequent investigation showed an Anchor Point resident, age 38, had assaulted her partner, resulting in injury, damaged property of another by lighting it on fire, and damaged additional property by driving over items multiple times with a vehicle. The individual was arrested and transported to Homer Jail for booking with no bail.

On Jan. 11 at approximately 10:55 p.m., the Alaska State Troopers (AST) were on routine patrol when a blue Hyundai Tiburon was observed driving in Anchor Point, and it was known that the driver of that vehicle had a suspended driver’s license. AST initiated a traffic stop of that vehicle in Anchor Point and identified the driver, age 53. A check in the Alaska Public Safety Information Network and the National Crime Information Center showed the driver had a suspended driver’s license and was issued a summons for one count of Driving While License Suspended.


Homer Police

Jan. 9

At approximately 3:05 a.m., a caller reported a suspicious vehicle. Officers responded and arrested a 25-year-old Anchor Point man for driving under the inflence and later refusal. 

At approximately 4:47 a.m., officers responded to an expected death.

At approximately 9:04 a.m., a caller reported a theft.

At approximately 1:56 p.m., a caller reported fraud.

At approximately 1:58 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance.

At approximately 3:56 p.m., Officers assisted medics with CPR. The patient was transported to South Peninsula Hospital where they were declared deceased.

At approximately 9:06 p.m., a caller reported kids being disruptive at a business. 

Jan. 10

At approximately 2:49 p.m., a caller reported seeing a person at a bar in violation of their conditions of release. Officers responded but did not see the person.

At approximately 3:08 p.m., Officers responded to a reported after-the-fact assault and arrested a 20-year-old Wisconsin resident for three counts of third-degree assault and fourth-degree assault.

 

At approximately 11:41 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance and arrested a 49-year-old Homer resident for two counts of violating conditions of release. While at the jail, the individual attempted to contact the victim and was additionally charged with two counts of Unlawful Contact, Promoting Contraband and Assault 4. 

Jan. 11

At 4:08 a.m., Officers responded to a report of a boy leaving his residence. No crime had occurred.

At 7:35 a.m., a person came into the lobby to report being previously assaulted. The person refused to cooperate with the investigation process.

At 11:06 a.m., officers performed a next of kin notification to a Homer area resident.

At 11:22 a.m., Officers arrested a Homer man for violating conditions of release.

Jan. 12

At 4:19 p.m., Officers conducted a welfare check.
